What to Expect at Your First Wine Tasting at Tranquillity Vineyard

Wondering how wine tastings work in Middlebury, CT, and whether you need a reservation? Here is exactly what to expect at Tranquillity Vineyard & Winery, from the two types of tastings we offer to how long to plan and what a visit costs.

What types of wine tastings does Tranquillity Vineyard offer?

There are two ways to taste. The first is a self guided tasting, where you choose the wines you would like to try and savor them at your own pace. No reservation is needed for a self guided tasting, though larger parties are encouraged to reserve a table to guarantee seating. The second is the guided tour and tasting, which covers the history of the farm and the winemaking process, includes a tour of the winemaking and wine aging facility, and finishes with a sampling of our wines.

How much are wine tastings in Middlebury, CT?

The Exclusive Guided Tour and Tasting at Tranquillity Vineyard is $50 per person. Self guided tastings are priced by the wines you choose, so you can keep it as light or as generous as you like, by the flight, glass, or bottle. Curious how the wine is made before you taste it? How long does a wine tasting take?

Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours for the guided tour and tasting. Self guided tastings run at your own pace, and most guests settle in for an hour or two. Seating reservations are booked in 2 hour blocks, they are non refundable, but you can reschedule with 24 hours notice, and our rain policy lets you reschedule if the weather turns.

Where do I sit, and can I bring food?

Walk ins are welcome in the White Barn, and more than 60 Adirondack chairs offer complimentary open seating across the lawn. Reservable options include a White Barn farm table for up to 12 at $120, the Estate Gathering Table for up to 8 at $75 for 2 hours, a Vineyard Terrace Table for up to 6 at $50 for 2 hours, and the Sunset Fire Lounge for up to 6 around a propane fire pit. Food and wine are not included with a seating reservation and are purchased separately. You are welcome to bring your own food, and food trucks are on site when available. Leashed dogs and cats are welcome, and accessible seating is available on request.

Do I need a reservation for a wine tasting?

For a self guided tasting, no reservation is needed, though larger groups should reserve a table. For the guided tour and tasting, reservations are definitely recommended.
