Inside Our Book Club at the Vineyard: How to Join and What to Expect

Some of the best conversations at Tranquillity Vineyard do not happen over a tasting flight. They happen over a book. Our monthly book club has grown into one of the most loved regular gatherings on the property, bringing together readers from Middlebury, Waterbury, Southbury, and across western Connecticut for an evening of goreat wine, lakeside air, and honest conversation about that month's pick.

If you have been wondering how to join, what the club reads, or what a typical meeting feels like, this is your guide.

What the book club at Tranquillity Vineyard is all about

The idea is simple. Once a month, readers gather at the vineyard on Lake Quassapaug to talk about a shared book in a setting that feels more like a friend's living room than a lecture. There is no pressure to have brilliant insights and no penalty for skimming the last few chapters. A glass of handcrafted wine, or a latte from the Tranquillity Cafe if that is more your speed, tends to loosen up the discussion nicely.

The group welcomes new faces every month. Some members have been coming since the club began, while others join for a single title that caught their eye. Both are exactly the point.

How to join the monthly book club

Joining is easy. The current month's meeting date appears on our events calendar, along with our live music and seasonal gatherings. If you would like to be added to the book club list, receive the upcoming reading selection, or ask a question before your first visit, send us a note through the contact page and mention the book club. Our team will reply with everything you need for the next meeting, including that month's book.

What we read

Selections rotate to keep things fresh, moving between contemporary fiction, memoir, and the occasional classic worth revisiting. Each month's title is shared with members ahead of time so everyone has a fair chance to finish before we meet. If you have a book you would love the group to read, bring the suggestion along. Member picks are how some of our favorite discussions have started.
